The Wedding People by Alison Espach is a novel about Phoebe Stone, a woman at rock bottom who crashes a lavish wedding in Newport, Rhode Island, to fulfill a dream – only to be mistaken for a guest and form an unexpected bond with the bride, Lila, leading to humorous and tender revelations about grief, connection, and reinvention. The story follows Phoebe as she navigates the wedding weekend, finding herself at the center of the event’s chaos and forming surprising friendships with the bride and other attendees, exploring themes of loss, self-reliance, and the unexpected paths life can take. The Women’s Impact book club meets the second Monday of each month from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Books are chosen, and discussions are facilitated by book club participants. Locations vary each month.
