In 2012, the founders transitioned it into a formal group of like-minded women who demonstrate purpose and passion when it comes to supporting women and issues related to the enhancement of their roles in the community and in the workplace. Women’s Impact Inc., while at its heart a 501c(6) networking organization, is also dedicated to highlighting the achievements of established area professionals and providing mentorship to emerging female leaders.
Teaming up with ATHENA International – a well-known women’s leadership organization – for the annual area Athena Awards® Dinner, Women’s Impact Inc. quickly gained momentum and earned recognition. In 2013, Women’s Impact Inc. had the distinct honor of presenting the Global ATHENA Leadership Award to former professional tennis player Billie Jean King, who worked to get women equal prize money at the US Open in the “Battle of the Sexes” and continues today to work for equal rights for both genders.
Though still young, by 2014 Women’s Impact had already experienced tremendous growth, boasting over 100 members with many successful leadership and networking events to the organization’s credit. Today, the group focuses on meeting the professional and personal needs of the diverse membership base, serving as a positive force for change in the community and striving to showcase, elevate, and connect. Women’s Impact Inc. continues to welcome new members dedicated to advancing women, their stature and their interests in our community.
